The first one is "Good Life" by Kanye West ft. T-Pain:
This music video by Kanye West ft. T-Pain is interesting as there are various effective techniques that makes it an interesting music video to watch:
- The use of colour is quite effective; throughout the video, the performers are presented in black and white whereas the CGI effect are presented in colour.
- As this is R&B, Hiphop Rap genre of the song, various things that you expect to be in a R&B music video is presented such as accessories like Sunglasses, Women, and more.
- The camera is much faster than a trailer and the transitions works effectively.
- The lyrics are being shown to the audience which is really interesting as it gives the music video more interactive as it allows the audience to either sing along with the lyrics or read them as they go.
- The song fits well with the music video as it introduces you to the 'Good Life' which the song was talking about, and this is presented with the colour graphics.
The second one is "Mystery" by Aïrto:
This one interests me as Aïrto is a local Youtuber in the Netherlands. I found him through surfing songs in Youtube, and he posts videos of himself singing. Recently, he has managed to produce a music video for one of his originals, 'Mystery'. The genre of the song is more Pop; it is lively and upbeat. This music video interests me because:
- The lighting in the music video reflects the upbeat, and happy volume of the song.
- The camerawork is really effective; the use of close up such as at 0:03 and the constant close up on the girls face which links to the definition of the song.
- There are no CGI which makes the music video more 'clean' and natural looking.
Overall, this two videos are effective in their own self genre. I thought that they are a great example as they interest me and it also entertains me which is one of the purpose of a music video.
